Election Commission of India had started a toll free Call Centre at Shimla for the benefit of electors

Election Commission of India had started a toll free Call Centre at Shimla for the benefit of electors and other stake holders of Himachal Pradesh at number 1965. Now, ECI has changed this toll free number from "1965" to "1950". This Call Centre is working during office hours i.e. 10 AM to 5 PM on all working days. Subsequently, the call centre will be made a 24X7 facility on all days. This call centre has been made functional throughout the country through all the service providers such as BSNL, Aircel, S-Tel, Airtel, Reliance, Vodaphone, Idea, Tata Indicom etc. Toll free Call Centre can be accessed as follow:-

From within the State of H.P. -1950 (Landline and Mobile phones) and from outside the State of H.P. -01771950 (Landline and Mobile phones).

This call centre facility can be utilized by the people to register any type of election related complaints pertaining to the State or raise a query such as the procedure of getting oneself registered as elector, deletion of names from the electoral rolls, any electoral mal-practices during elections, complaints or suggestions with regard to the functioning of the office of the District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Booth Level Officers or any other work related to the Election Department. The call centre may also be used to enquire about the services offered by the Election Department and the office of Chief Electoral Officer, Himachal Pradesh. 

At the time of registering the queries and complaints in the call centre, complainant should disclose their name, address and mobile number, if available. This will help the department to process the request faster. Citizens who disclose their mobile numbers at the time of making their complaint will be given a registration number through SMS for tracking of the progress on the complaint. 

Public can also lodge their complaints through Internet on the link "Public Grievance Redress related to Elections" on the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Himachal Pradesh ("http://ceohimachal.nic.in"). 

It is clarified that this call centre is meant for election related grievances and queries relating to election to the offices of the President, Vice-President, Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and H.P. Vidhan Sabha only. This call centre will not process any matter pertaining to elections to Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions of Himachal Pradesh.
