Government has undertaken projects for Development of Test Bed for Information Security Skill Development using Virtual Training Environment (VTE) and Development of Person Authentication System based on Speaker Verification in Uncontrolled Environment.
A total budget of Rs. 735.53 lakh has so far been sanctioned for the above projects. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today, Shri Milind Deora, Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, said that Government has taken initiative for engaging with private sector on Cyber Security.
In this regard a Joint Working Group (JWG) with representatives of both public and private sector was set up to work out the details in July 2012.
The Joint Working Group (JWG) has submitted its report on engagement with Private Sector on Cyber Security in Oct. 15, 2012.
The salient features of the JWG inter alia include Guiding Principles and Objectives, “Roadmap” for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) on Cyber Security and four pilot projects.
The recommended “Roadmap” includes setting up of an Institutional Framework for involvement of private sector, capacity building in the area of Cyber Security, development of Cyber Security Standards & Assurance mechanisms and augmentation of testing & certification facilities for Information Technology products.
Action has been initiated for implementation of the recommendations in key priority areas and it is an on-going process.
